status update, previous releases

Currently I´m trying to get a machine which has gcc 3.2.2 installed to fix the compile problem on these gcc branch. This may take some time, but once the problem is solved, the final 3.0 release will be released soon after, as there are no more bugs known and a couple of smaller issues are solved in the current RC2 version. Furthermore many people requested a possibility to download previous releases. They are available in the download section now but should be used for historical reasons only, as they are full of bugs and there are known security vulnerabilities in these releases.

Schiff ahoi !

I´m on the way to Greece where I will be sailing for two weeks in the Aegean sea together with some friends. If we manage to find our way back to Vienna, which is scheduled for end of September, I´ll try to answer all mails and forum posts as well as upload the new RC2 release. So long.

MELANGE is back !

Finally it is here again. At least the first release candidate of the new MELANGE CHAT SYSTEM 3.0 has landed and is available for download. After more than three years, the gap is filled and you can switch to this new version. Even though it is a release candidate, I highly recommend to use it, as the old versions are full of known security concerns. The new release was designed to be more stable and more secure, so its fine to go with it. If you find a bug anyway, please post it in the forum, so the fix can make it into the final 3.0 release. Have fun with it !

RC1 will be released soon

just put up the latest build of both server and client. if testing goes fine, this will be the first candidate to be released very soon. all features are now implemented, just some cleanup and tweaking is still necessary. you may test it anyway alread: demochat!

New MELANGE CHAT SYSTEM release is coming

good news: more than three and a half year after the last update, i found time now to continue working on the chat. after this long time i took the chance to completly recode the chat from scratch. it will be much more stable, more secure, more configurable and will provide you with a couple of new features, while continuing support for all the features you liked at MELANGE. as i think, after this long period of waiting and despair some more days don´t matter. therefore it still takes some time before you can download the new version. anyway, testing the demochat on this site will help me to improve and test the system before it will be released. so long, and come back regulary.

for all those who want to test the upcoming new 3.0 release of the MELANGE CHAT SYSTEM, this homepage went online today. as the last entry on the (old) MELANGE homepage dated december 2000 (!!!) i decided to remove those messages, as i wouldn´t longer call them news ;-)
